Lanee’ Battle Releases New, Long-Anticipated Sophomore Album
“This Is My story” Includes Elements of Jazz, R&B, Neo-Soul and Pop
(San Diego, CA)  Lanee’ Battle, a talented San Diego, California-based songstress, enjoyed a sold out crowd of fans and supporters for her exciting, much –anticipated sophomore album, “This Is My Story,” at a CD release party on Thursday, December 2, 2010 at Humphrey’s By The Bay (Backstage Live) in San Diego, CA.  Her legion of fans from around the world, from LA to London will be thrilled after waiting years for new music from Battle.
Marking a huge stage in the career of the multi-talented singer-songwriter, the Huntsville, Alabama native has just put the final touches to the album. This release will hopefully build upon her fan base and get her music heard by more people than ever.  While her first project, “There R Times” won critical acclaim from gospel industry professionals and fans alike, her new musical offering promises to be even more of a blessing.
“This Is My Story’, consists of twelve songs from Ms. Battle, each providing a combination of her melodious vocals and heartfelt lyrics. The music is punctuated throughout with elements of jazz, R&B, neo-soul and pop.  She posseses a natural gift for song, seemingly effortlessly fashioning her round tones and easy phrasing around soaring ballads and hip hop urbanity-doused praises.
Recorded at Elament Studios in Ontario, California, its creation was supported by musicians who have been associated with Kirk Whalum, Anita Baker, Evelyn Champagne King, and Roy Ayres. Produced by Lew Laing, as well as Eric “Enuf” Drake, “This Is My Story” takes Battle to new musical heights.
“This Is My Story” reveals the stunning array of influences that have found their way into Battle’s music.  She began to get herself known whilst playing in venues throughout San Diego and Los Angeles, and has always been keen to bring something unique to a traditional sound. “When you listen to some albums, you can get bored from hearing the same vocal tones used by the artists,” explains Battle from her San Diego home. “On my album, there are a variety of styles used from raspy to smoothed out vocals.  My style has developed and I’ve incorporated other sounds, which have all made their way into “This Is My Story.”
With a CD collection that takes up quite an amount of room, Battle refuses to restrict her influences to one genre.  Instead, she has been influenced by numerous artists and genres of music from across the spectrum, including Chaka Khan, Nancy Wilson, Sam Cook, Yolanda Adams, Bob Marley, The Police, Ray Charles, John Coltrane and Stevie Wonder amongst many others. “The album is a reflection of my influences over the years and the changes that I’ve experienced in my life,” Battle offered proudly.
“This Is My Story” officially releases December 7, 2010.  Fans are encouraged to visit Battles’s website at for more detailed information about her and her music, and to sign up for the mailing list to receive news and information about upcoming gigs.  She most recently performed at such places as The House of Blues and The San Diego County Fair.  Also, her music has been danced to by the Los Angeles Sparks (WNBA) Cheerleaders during game-time routines at The Staples Center in Los Angeles, CA.
